President Of Vermont's Bennington College To Leave July 1

The president of Bennington College is leaving the Vermont school to become leader of the Henry Luce Foundation. 

The appointment of Bennington President Mariko Silver to lead the New York foundation was announced Monday.

Silver, who has been at Bennington since 2013, will leave July 1.

After Silver's departure, the college will be led by Dean Isabel Roche while the school searches for a permanent president.

During her tenure at Bennington, the college says Silver, among other accomplishments, led the development of a 10-year strategic plan and the largest capital campaign in the school's history, raising more than $90 million.

The Luce Foundation says it has "invested in knowledge makers," by supporting projects at universities, policy institutes, media organizations, and museums.

Silver will take office at the foundation Aug. 1.
