Dirt Floor: The Music Sanctuary of Connecticut

Eric Lichter
/
Dirt Floor

Today, a conversation and music from Dirt Floor Studios in Chester, Connecticut. It’s a music studio, carved into the woods, where the sound of the music they create is every bit as organic as the surroundings.

Dirt Floor is the brainchild of Eric Lichter, a multi-instrumentalist and musician himself, who has tried to create a space that he’d want to play music in. It's filled with analog tape decks and vintage guitars and keyboards, reminding you of a place where the now-classic rock and folk of the '60s and '70s might have been created.

It has also drawn in a collection of musicians from around the country who share this vision. This show was taped on a balmy night, with the windows open to the forest and the crickets, and a small crowd, gathered on couches and listening closely.

GUESTS:

  • Eric Lichter - Musician and owner/operator of Dirt Floor
  • James Maple - Musician and co-producer at Dirt Floor
  • Kerri Powers - Musician who records at Dirt Floor
