Remembering Art Icon Mark Rothko; Local Artist Brings "Angry Robots" to NBMAA

Mark Rothko is undoubtedly one of America’s most important and influential painters. With his vast rectangular forms and ethereal color fields, Rothko’s art has inspired feelings of meditation and transcendence in ways that few other artists have been able to reproduce.

But who was the man behind the masterpieces?

This hour, we hear from a biographer whose latest book takes a closer look at Rothko’s personal and professional life. We also tell you how you can see one of Rothko’s paintings right here in Hartford.

And later, we talk to a local artist, whose sci-fi-inspired paintings are now on display at the New Britain Museum of American Art.

Join the conversation on Facebook and Twitter.
