Star Wars fans are anxiously awaiting the release of "Star Wars VII: The Force Awakens," the seventh film in the Star Wars franchise, and first one without George Lucas at the helm. Will J.J. Abrams live up to the challenge? And where is Luke Skywalker?
Our enduring fascination with the franchise goes back almost 40 years. Collective fervor increased when "The Empire Strikes Back" and "Return of the Jedi" followed "Star Wars IV: A New Hope." We rooted for Luke Skywalker and his rebel gang to defeat the Galactic Empire and later, the growing cast of heroes and villains in the books, comics and video games that unfurled the Expanded Universe.
Today, we talk to four of the writers from the Expanded Universe, who are in Hartford to visit with their fans.
GUESTS:
- Timothy Zahn - Science fiction novelist best known for the Thrawn Trilogy which began the Star Wars Expanded Universe
- Jason Fry - Writer of several Star Wars books and short stories, including Star Wars: The Essential Guide to Warfare and Star Wars: The Essential Atlas
- Mike Stackpole - Science fiction and fantasy writer who is best known for his Star Wars: X-Wing series
- Ryder Windham - Author of over 60 Star Wars books, including Star Wars: The Ultimate Visual Guide
