Lunarfest 2023

The Yale-China Association, in partnership with the New Haven Museum, Town Green District, New Haven Free Public Library, and the City of New Haven, is proud to host the 11th Annual Lunarfest, the largest celebration of Lunar New Year and Chinese culture in Connecticut.

This year’s festival celebrates the Year of the Rabbit. The celebration kicks off at 10AM with a parade down Whitney Avenue starting at the corner of Whitney and Grove Streets, with thrilling performances by lion dancers and martial artists. The parade will also highlight students from New Haven Schools marching with Lunar New Year decorations they created. It will culminate with a riveting lion pole dance and speeches from local community leaders.

In the afternoon, there will be free family-friendly, educational activities, workshops, and performances hosted at the New Haven Museum, the New Haven Free Public Library, Creative Arts Workshop, and Yale Office of International Students & Scholars.
