The national conversations about race and racism; police and African Americans; free speech on college campuses; “safe spaces” and hate speech and political correctness have all come together in very interesting and interlocked ways here in Connecticut recently.
We’ve seen student protests at Wesleyan, UConn and Yale - and purposely disruptive protests in downtown Hartford connected to the Black Lives Matter movement.
This hour, we listen back to a debate John Dankosky moderated between UConn Professor and New Yorker writer Jelani Cobb and The Atlantic’s ConorFriedersdorf about free speech. It happened in front of a large and lively crowd at Connecticut College.
And, we’ll meet the protestor who disrupted a recent Connecticut Forum conversation about "Race and Racism."
