Senior advisors of the states' governors are expected to plan first steps in realizing their goals.
Governor Dannel Malloy and 16 other governors have signed onto a clean energy agreement.
The Governors’ Accord for a New Energy Future includes plans to expand sources of clean energy, modernize energy distribution, and increase clean transportation options.
Malloy said that Connecticut is responsible for innovative initiatives in reducing carbon emissions, and that a push toward clean energy can create well-paying jobs and lower electricity bills.
He also said that these energy improvements will secure a prosperous future for the country.
In addition to Connecticut, the bipartisan group includes governors from California, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, and Washington.
The states involved in the accord plan to initiate a shift toward renewable energy sources.
These governors are embracing new energy solutions in an attempt to help the economy and protect the environment, as well as to create resilient infrastructure.
This energy transition includes a collaborative effort in which states will help each other to reach their shared goals.
The green initiatives of one state can be modified for use in another state, and policy experts will share their knowledge with each other to develop refined solutions.
States also plan to join forces in order to make policy changes that will transform the future of energy nation-wide.
Senior advisors of the governors are expected to meet soon to discuss the first steps in realizing these goals.
