Aetna Will Make Layoffs In Hartford

In a written statement, Aetna says it will eliminate "a very small percentage" of jobs in Hartford. The company did not say how many positions might go, but it said the cuts would be spread across its operations in several states. Aetna says it is in the process of reorganizing and consolidating certain business segments to take advantage of CVS Health’s enterprise capabilities. CVS bought Aetna in 2018. The pharmacy company agreed to keep at least as many employees in Connecticut as it had at the time of the sale. CVS says it does not have to make any filings with the state as a result of the job cuts. The state Department of Labor requires a filing if companies plan to lay off 50 or more people at any one time.
