Child Advocate Details Stonington School District's Failings In Sexual Misconduct Case
The state Office of Child Advocate today released a report on allegations of sexual misconduct by a Stonington High School teacher. The teacher, Timothy Chokas, was also a coach. He was accused by former students of making inappropriate comments, putting his legs on their laps, and constantly touching them. The Child Advocate says the school failed to report allegations of inappropriate behavior toward female students between 2013 and 2017. The report also says school officials did not know how sexual abusers groom underage victims by pushing their boundaries. It concludes training provided by the district failed to focus on sexual misconduct by adults towards students. Chokas has not been charged with any crime.
