Here's my nomination for a neologism: "Amazonopoeia." Definition: the rhetorical use of Amazon shopping and customer reviews.
There have been two very different examples this week. People who thought Paula Deen had been overpunished started buying her books and pushing them up the sale rankings.
Sample comment:
"I don't normally buy items for a political statement but this time I have. Paula has freedom of speech and I have the power of the buck. Today I bought this book AND a box of cheerios (in support of their ad that contains a mixed race marriage)."
Meanwhile, customer reviews for the Mizuno running shoes worn by Wendy Davis touted their abilities to get you through a filibuster and outrun patriarchy.
Today on the Nose, "Wendymania" and the new movie version of "Much Ado About Nothing."
