The line of people who want their money from Earl O'Garro continues to grow.
O'Garro is the man at the center of a federal grand jury investigation looking into $670,000 in missing taxpayer money. The city of Hartford paid him to pay its insurance bills, and he apparently never did.
What was initially a debt issue grew until, among other things, O'Garro lost his insurance license, defaulted on a state loan to move to Hartford, and failed to pay his mortgage.
Also, school officials have wondered aloud whether O'Garro's business relationship with the family of city Treasurer Adam Cloud posed a conflict of interest for Cloud. The treasurer denies any wrongdoing.
Now, a food distributor says O'Garro and his wife owe $18,435.18 for deliveries made to his former Middletown eatery called Us Restaurant & Lounge. The order for the merchandise was placed between April and May of this year. The lawsuit seeking the money was filed Nov. 26. The restaurant is apparently closed.
O'Garro has refused to comment.
