Connecticut's congressional delegation joined the call for action over allegations that Attorney General Jeff Sessions lied during testimony in his confirmation hearings.
Senator Richard Blumenthal is a member of the Senate Judiciary Committee. In a Facebook post he called the disclosures about Sessions, "stunning."
He called for a special prosecutor to investigate the Trump administration's ties with Russia, saying "now there can be no question that possible perjury and other criminal violations demand it."
"After omitting key details and providing false information in his written responses to me and other members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, we are left wondering what else is missing or misleading in his testimony. This begs serious questions about his fitness to lead the Department of Justice. Unless Attorney General Sessions can provide a credible explanation, his resignation will be necessary."
On Thursday, Sessions announced he would recuse himself from any investigation into Trump's campaign.
Rep. Rosa DeLauro unequivocally called for Sessions to resign.
She issued a statement saying, "the President and his Administration have a responsibility to call for a special investigation and give the American people the full story. Attorney General Sessions has shown that he is both not impartial on the matter and that he is willing to lie under oath in order to cover up his actions. Recusing himself from the investigation into Russia’s meddling in our election is not enough, and he must step down immediately."
Senator Chris Murphy tweeted Thursday that it is not illegal to speak with an ambassador, which he says, raises questions about Sessions's handling of the issue.

Later in the day, Murphy also called for Sessions to resign.
At this point, the only way to get a fair investigation of Trump/Russia ties is with a new AG. Sessions should resign.

Rep. Joe Courtney reiterated Sen. Lindsey Graham's call for a special prosecutor, while Rep. Elizabeth Esty adopted the same formulation as Sen. Blumenthal -- if Sessions is unable to provide a more credible explanation of his actions, he should resign
Rep. Jim Himes told MSNBC on Wednesday night that it wasn't yet clear that Sessions's conduct amounted to perjury, "but it very clearly indicates that he must now recuse himself."
