Residential Life (ResLife) student workers at Wesleyan University in Connecticut formed the Wesleyan Union of Student Employees (WesUSE) last week. The group says this makes them the first confirmed union of undergraduate student workers in the country to be voluntarily recognized by their university.

After a regional accreditor’s approval of the merger proposal by Connecticut State Colleges and Universities, education officials said it is a milestone toward higher enrollment and financial stability.If fully approved, the dozen campuses will become a single community college system called CT State.
