As Hartford's city council seeks to remove them, all three registrars of voters have filed suit in state court asking a judge to stand in the council's way. And on Wednesday, at least one of them will be before a state court judge asking him for emergency scheduling measures.
Lawyers for Democrat Olga Vazquez, Republican Sheila Hall, and Working Families Party Registrar Urania Petit have all filed suit in court to stop the council before it starts.
The council is seeking to remove these three registrars after a horrible Election Day 2014 in which voters were turned away from the polls. Council President Shawn Wooden has said they need to be removed because they've been derelict in their duties.
The city council's formal proceedings aren't scheduled to being until April 7. Now, a judge has scheduled a hearing for this Wednesday in the case of Petit to take up the matter.
