The campaign of Republican senate candidate Linda McMahon has apparently backed off a threat to bring New Haven officials into state court just days before the election. WNPR's Jeff Cohen reports.
The McMahon campaign had alleged that the city wouldn't have enough ballots on Tuesday. And even as late as this afternoon, McMahon said she had concerns about New Haven's election preparedness.
"We want a total transparent election."
But not long afterward, McMahon's campaign changed its mind. Paul Bass of the New Haven Independent interviewed the campaign's attorney, Herbert Shepherdson, as he left a meeting with New Haven officials.
"Right now, based on the information I have, I'm going to recommend to the client that we not go any further on this. I think the ballots they've ordered are sufficient."
A campaign spokesman later said McMahon is withdrawing her legal action.
For WNPR, I'm Jeff Cohen.
