What Supporters Say
I believe Connecticut Public attempts to report the news as accurately and fairly as it can. I believe its people work hard to "get it right." I love the on-air personalities, and I appreciate those rare opportunities when we hear from the people behind the scenes who make it all happen. And I believe we need Connecticut Public more than ever.

Membership Basics

A “member” is someone who donates to Connecticut Public, whether that’s a one-time gift, monthly contribution, or another form of giving.

This support is essential. Member donations are our largest source of funding.

Member benefits include a complimentary subscription to Connecticut Magazine, exclusive discounts to local events, and more.

Members who give a minimum of $8/month or $96/year or more receive access to premium streaming benefits with CPTV Passport and NPR+.

Passport and NPR+ are massive, on-demand streaming libraries of Connecticut Public, NPR, and PBS shows and podcasts that offer break-free listening, bonus episodes, and early downloads.

Many member benefits such as early access to event registration, and Connecticut Magazine, are available to every member who gives $25 or more a year.

Donations starting at $8/month or $96/year qualify for premium benefits such as CPTV Passport and NPR+.

Most member benefits start as soon as a donation is processed.

Qualifying donors who give online or by phone will be prompted to activate CPTV Passport immediately. Activation links for NPR+ are emailed weekly.

Due to mail and production deadlines, it can take six to eight weeks for the first issue of Connecticut Magazine to arrive. Connecticut Public cannot provide back issues.

Yes! After donating, contact Audience Care to inform us the donation is a gift. We need the recipient’s name, mailing address, and email address to create their account and activate their benefits.

Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).

Yes, Connecticut Public offers thank-you gifts such as tote bags, clothing, CDs and DVDs, books, and more for donating.

Please note receiving a thank-you gift does reduce the tax-deductible amount of a donation. The fair-market value (FMV) of a thank-you gift will be deducted from the total donation to calculate the tax-deductible amount.

Connecticut Public is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dependent on community support to fulfill its mission to inform, educate, and inspire.

A donor may contact Audience Care to request a refund within 30 days of their donation being processed. Donations processed more than 30 days ago will not be refunded.

For sustaining (monthly) donations, a donor may contact Audience Care within 30 days of their first gift being processed to request a refund. If a donor discovers a monthly donation was made in error, Connecticut Public will refund no more than three transactions (not including the first donation).

Refund requests falling outside of this policy will be evaluated on a case-by-case basis.

Thank-you gifts may be exchanged or refunded if damaged, defective, or lost in shipping. If a replacement item is unavailable, a donor can choose a refund of their full donation amount or the fair market value (FMV) of the item only. The FMV is included in the initial donation receipt and tax acknowledgment letter.

Concert tickets are non-refundable.

If a sustainer (monthly) donor cancels before their giving covers the fair market value (FMV) of thank-you gifts received, we may ask the donor to cover the difference.

Managing Membership Benefits

Any member who wishes to change what they receive, such as Connecticut Magazine or other mail, can let Audience Care know.

Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).

Members who make one-time donations must renew every 12 months to keep receiving benefits such as CPTV Passport and NPR+. Monthly donors do not need to renew, and they get less mail as a result!

Connecticut Public begins sending renewal letters to the address on file 90 days before membership expires. We also begin emailing members 30 days before membership expires.

There are many ways to renew a membership by donating.

Members can call Audience Care at (860)275-7550 Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET to donate over the phone.

Members can visit https://www.ctpublic.org/renew and give online. It is safe, secure, and instantaneous.

No, monthly donors — we call them Sustainers! — do not need to renew.

Connecticut Public will reach out if a bank card on file expires. Otherwise, sustainers enjoy a worry-free membership experience. Benefits continue automatically, and the ongoing support provides steady, reliable funding for programming.

Monthly donation amounts can be changed or canceled, and credit card information can be updated at any time, for any reason. Simply email Audience Care at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or call (860)275-7550 Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET.

Yes! A monthly donor can request a thank-you gift once every 12 months by contacting Audience Care.

Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).

The short answer: the gift and renewal passed each other in the mail.

Connecticut Public mails thousands of letters to members each month. The process takes time and coordination, and that means we must finalize mailing lists a few weeks before letters are mailed (and before some renewal gifts arrive).

Members who receive a renewal letter after they mailed a renewal gift can ignore the letter and recycle it. And if they want to get less mail overall, they can become a monthly donor — and never worry about renewing (and excess mail) again!

Donors who make a one-time gift online (or provide an email address while donating on the phone) receive a tax acknowledgement attached to their confirmation email. This can be printed and saved.

Monthly donors receive a summary of their annual giving in late January of each year, either by email or mail (if no email address is on file).

We can provide new acknowledgments if needed. Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).

The short answer is “no.” NPR and PBS member stations do not share donor information with each other. A listener or viewer wishing to change their support from one station to another must cancel their existing gift at the “old” station, and make a new monthly gift to the “new” station.

Thank-you gifts can take up to four weeks to arrive. Members whose thank-you gift does not arrive should contact Audience Care.

Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).

Thank-you gifts can only be exchanged if an item arrives damaged or defective.

Members with questions about their thank-you gift should contact Audience Care. Audience Care is reachable by email at AudienceCare@ctpublic.org or by phone at (860)275-7550 (Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. ET).
