Connecticut Voices for Children has launched a campaign to create a book by children writing about their experiences with the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
Addressing potential contributors in a flyer, Connecticut Voices for Children says, "The book will be shared with the public, advocates, and government officials to help them better understand your experiences and create better laws based on your suggestions." Children who wish to can remain anonymous.
Connecticut Voices for Children is an independent research and advocacy organization with headquarters in New Haven. It expects to publish the book early this summer.
In offering guidance to the contributors, the flyer offers questions to inspire thoughtful essays, stories and poems, including:
What was or is your experience with DCF like? Who has helped you along the way? What could have made your experiences in DCF better for you? Why would that have been helpful? What are your hopes for the future?
Voices says it will offer a writing workshop for contributors.
