Hillary Clinton Rallies in Springfield to Sway Primary Voters

Hillary Clinton flew in to western Massachusetts on Monday morning, one day ahead of the Super Tuesday voting in more than a dozen states, including Massachusetts and Vermont. 

Several hundred people showed up for her 30-minute stump speech at the Springfield History Museum.

Among them was Carol Tivoli of Longmeadow. She said she’s wavered between the two main Democrats, attracted by how Bernie Sanders energized younger voters.

"I started listening to him," Tivoli said. "But I still think Hillary is the one. She is incredibly -- she's an incredible person."

Clinton is the third presidential candidate to visit western Massachusetts in the past week, along with Sanders and Republican John Kasich.

Another Clinton supporter, Russ Carrier of Northampton, isn’t surprised the region is getting all this attention.

"Often times, western Mass is the part of the state that kind of turns the election one way or the other," Carrier said. "[There are] a lot of activists here in the Democratic Party. And it is close."

Polls are open in Massachusetts from 7:00 am to 8:00 pm on Tuesday.
