Chelsea Clinton Stumps for Her Mother in Hartford

Chelsea Clinton addresses a crowd in Hartford's North End

Chelsea Clinton stopped off in Hartford on Wednesday to raise funds for her mother, presidential candidate Hillary Clinton.

The older Clinton will be in the city on Thursday to speak on gun violence as she meets with families who lost loved ones in the Sandy Hook tragedy.

Chelsea Clinton also spoke about gun violence as she appeared at Dunns River Jamaican Restaurant, but addressed questions on other issues including immigration.

"My mother has said unequivocally that she would move on comprehensive immigration reform within her first 100 days," said Clinton. "This goes to the core of who we are as American citizens, that we have an obligation to our history, to our values and also to our future to answer these questions."

Clinton also took a swipe at her mother’s rival, Bernie Sanders, questioning his proposals for free college education.

"Senator Sanders relies somewhat on a Wall Street speculation tax, but also somewhat on states to come up with billions of dollars day one, to fund his free college tuition plan," she said. "I don't know if Connecticut has the hundreds of millions of dollars that I think it would be expected to come up with."

Clinton stopped short of calling on Sanders to drop out of the race. Hillary Clinton handily defeated Sanders this week in the New York primary. Connecticut holds its primary next Tuesday.
