The Nose Panelists Rock Their Stilettos LOL

I once slipped on a banana peel in my crowded high school cafeteria when I was sixteen years old. I was navigating the busy lunch room in my almost six-inch platform shoes and my breezy spring dress, when the peel sent me flying -  before ungraciously landing me on my back with my dress over my face. I was never so embarrassed - or uncomfortable in a pair of shoes.

High heels are not comfortable, yet women persist in torturing their feet with them. Even Claire Underwood, the fictional First Lady in the Netflix series, House of Cards, never seems to take them off. What do we get from our heels?

Donald Trump rally's are not safe places to be if you're there to protest this year's most divisive presidential candidate. At almost every rally, protesters have been yelled at or shoved by Trump supporters. This week, a loyalist punched a protester in the face because he "deserved it."  Mr. Trump takes no responsibility for the violence at his rallies, instead claiming some of the protesters are just "bad dudes." 

George Martin signed the Beatles' to their first contract in 1962. He went on to produce much of the Beatles' best work over the eight years, earning him the unofficial title as the "fifth Beatle." He died this week at age ninety.  

LOL used to mean simply, "laughing out loud." Somewhere along the way, people stopped feeling any humor when they texted LOL. Yet, it remains popular - and even vital - as a marker of empathy in online communication. Who says tone is hard to convey online?
