Earlier this year, President Barack Obama went to Poland to celebrate the 25th anniversary of democratic elections in Poland. The speech signaled a continued strong relationship between the countries - something forged by the decades of immigration from Poland to the US - a connection that created large Polish-American communities in places like New Britain, CT.

Today we’ll continue our Polish Stories Project. We’ll hear from Poland’s ambassador to the U.S. about how the we might make it easier for polish citizens to travel back and forth between our two countries. Also, It’s the 40th anniversary of CCSU’s Polish Studies Program, we’ll hear from the head of that program, and from local Polish business owners about New Britain’s thriving community.

GUESTS:

  • Ryszard Schnepf, Polish Ambassador to the United States
  • M.B. Biskupski, Professor of History, Stanislaus A. Blejwas Endowed Chair in Polish and Polish American Studies, Coordinator of the Polish Studies Program at CCSU
  • Adrian Baron, Partner at Law Firm of Podorowsky Thompson & Baron on Broad Street in New Britain, President of Polonia Business Association
  • Lisa Wisniewski, grad student at the University of Hartford
  • Bogumila Gladysz, President of Polish American Business Association, runs the Miss Polonia pageant
