Federal authorities have charged three more Florida men in the 2010 theft of millions of dollars worth of prescription drugs from an Eli Lilly warehouse in Connecticut.
The heist is believed to be the largest theft in Connecticut history, and in the history of the pharmaceutical industry nationwide. Thieves stole more than $75 million worth of Zyprexa, Cymbalta, Prozac, and other drugs.
The U.S. attorney's office said that Yosmany Nunez, Alexander Marquez, and Rafael Lopez have been indicted on conspiracy and theft charges for their alleged participation in the theft at a warehouse in Enfield. Two other men were previously charged in the case.
In what seemed like a scene out of the film "Oceans 11," the thieves cut a hole in the roof of the distribution warehouse, rappelled down, disabled the security system, and proceeded to haul away millions of dollars worth of antidepressants and cancer medications.
While inside the warehouse, one of the thieves used a water bottle, and forgot to take it with him when he left. That helped investigators track him down.
