The state’s new color-coded COVID alert system has designated 19 Connecticut towns as “red alert towns” for having positive test rates exceeding 15 per 100,000 residents for a two-week period. Gov. Ned Lamont has given these towns the option of pulling back from Phase 3 reopening to Phase 2.
The town of Prospect is one such community. Its mayor, Robert “Bob” Chatfield, is the longest-serving elected official in the state. Chatfield joined Connecticut Public Radio’s All Things Considered recently to talk about what in his long experience has prepared him to face a pandemic. He also discussed whether his plan of action includes a move back to Phase 2 reopening.
