Public radio might be best known for shows like Morning Edition, This American Life, Wait, Wait Don’t Tell Me and Car Talk, but did you know public radio stations across the country also feature some amazing music?
Thanks to the World Wide Web, many radio stations and shows put out beautiful videos of musical performances from not only local acts, but big-time national names.
Here are a few performances worth watching in less than 15 minutes:
Loudon Wainwright III performs “Harlan County” on Wits from American Public Media/Minnesota Public Radio (if you don’t listen to this show on a regular basis, you should).
Also from MPR, Black Joe Lewis performs “Come to My Party” on The Current. If you don't like to tap your toes, skip this one.
The members of Blitzen Trapper are veterans of the Newport Folk Festival and put the country back in folk (or folk back in country). They’ve also played locally at the Arch Street Tavern in Hartford. They performed “Feel the Chill” on WFUV in New York City.
