The Connecticut economy gained 600 jobs last month, according to a new analysis from the state Labor Department. Unemployment fell to its lowest level since July of 2008 : 5.7 percent.
Private companies in the state added 2,600 jobs last month, while 2,000 government jobs were eliminated.
Governor Dannel Malloy called it “another milestone” and an indicator that the economy is headed in the right direction.
Unemployment was down .3 percent from revised figures for May, and down .8 percent since June of last year.
The May figures originally showed a 6,400 job gain. Based on numbers from the Bureau of Labor statistics , that number has been revised to 5,900.
