Embracing Risk in Our Working Lives

Gone are the days of graduating from college, paying your dues with a few entry-level positions, and landing a 30-year career with a big corporation, complete with retirement benefits.

There’s no such thing as job security. Whole industries are disappearing, just as new ones -- some that couldn’t even have been imagined a short time ago -- are emerging, practically overnight. Meanwhile, thanks to technology, workers are under constant pressure to be available at all times.

40 percent of us will be self-employed, on some level, by the end of this decade, according to a study from Intuit, a financial services software company.

Today we'll talk with career guru and trend-spotter Anne Kreamer. She believes that amassing a range of skill sets and professional networks is a requirement to prosper in the 21st century.
