Malloy in Washington Discussing Affordable Healthcare; Malloy Signs College Sex Assault Bill

Governor Dannel Malloy in Washington, D.C. today speaking at an event sponsored by The Center for American Progress. Malloy discussed Connecticut's success with the Affordable Care Act. The organization regards Connecticut as a leader in implementing the federal health care act and getting residents enrolled.

Governor Signs Assault Bill

Governor Malloy signed legislation on Monday to help combat sexual assaults at Connecticut colleges and universities. The bill requires colleges to provide services to victims, institute sexual assault policies and report incidents.  Governor Malloy says Connecticut leads the nation in the implementation of strict legislation that will force change .

Medicaid Plans to Cover Private Physicians' Visits

Single adults on Medicaid will soon be able to get therapy at facilities other than a clinic. A bill passed by lawmakers last week aims to make the coverage available this year. Currently-- low-income adults on Medicaid can only get care from a psychologist or a licensed clinical social worker at a clinic.

Extended Metro North Delays

Metro North officials say it could take several weeks for the rail line to fix a control panel that caught fire over the weekend, which is causing delays on Metro-North’s New Haven Line. The control panel lets Metro-North switch trains to one of four tracks.  A new temporary panel will be installed within the next few weeks.

Gubernatorial Hopeful Cited for Speeding

Greenwich Republican gubernatorial candidate Tom Foley is facing a speeding charge. His campaign spokesman says that Foley was cited on Monday night for speeding on Route 9 in Haddam, after a fundraising event. A Quinnipiac Poll released earlier this week showed Foley leads his fellow Republican contenders for the party's endorsement. 

Federal funding is gone.

Congress has eliminated all funding for public media.

That means $2.1 million per year that Connecticut Public relied on to deliver you news, information, and entertainment programs you enjoyed is gone.
