-Tom talks to Dr. C. Eric Lincoln about the historical significance of the black church to the African American community. Lincoln wrote a highly praised book on the black church a few years ago. He says the church has always played an important role in the African American community and is still strong in spite of the He recent burnings of black churches in the South. He described those attacks, as tactics used by racists to intimidate African Americans.
