Verizon Poised To Gain Full Control Of Wireless Business

NPR's business news starts with a Vodafone-Horizon deal.

Those two telecom firms are joint owners of the nation's number one wireless provider, Verizon Wireless. Now, Verizon has a chance to acquire full control, as it has wanted to do for years.

Over the weekend, the two companies finalized the terms of a $130 billion deal. That's how much Vodafone is asking for its 45 percent stake in the company. If their boards approve that deal today, it would be the third largest corporate acquisition of all time. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.

Federal funding is gone.

Congress has eliminated all funding for public media.
