A large number of gun parts were seized by federal investigators from a Connecticut manufacturer, according to a report in the Hartford Business Journal. The paper said 3,000 assault rifle parts were taken from Stag Arms in New Britain as part of a larger investigation into possible illegal activity.

An inspection of the company’s plant last summer is alleged to have turned up parts without serial numbers, in violation of the National Firearms Act.

UConn's Hartford Groundbreaking

UConn breaks ground officially on Monday to begin construction of its long-awaited downtown Hartford campus. The $115 million development is planned around the facade of the former Hartford Times building, near the Convention Center and the city’s Front Street area.

The university said it aims to move into the new complex in the fall of 2017, shifting classes from its current West Hartford campus. It will provide services for about 2,300 students.

Mohegan Slots Up

Mohegan Sun got better news from its slots numbers in April. Its take from slots that month increased six percent, the third time in recent months that it’s seen a positive improvement.

The casino credits lower gas prices and a general improvement in consumer confidence for the increased business. The month wasn’t so positive for Foxwoods, which continued to see declines -- a 2.7 percent fall in slots win over the same month last year.

Meanwhile, Foxwoods is set to open its massive retail mall, Tanger Outlets later this week.
