The state Supreme Court ruled last month that the way Connecticut funds public schools doesn’t violate the state’s constitution.
This hour we talk about the significance of this ruling from the state’s highest court.
In the decision, the judges made it clear that they believe it’s the job of the legislature—not the courts—to determine a way to distribute funds equitably.
So what happens now?
We ask Representative Andy Fleischmann, who is the co-chair of the House Education Committee, and Jim Finley, the consultant for the plaintiffs what they want to see moving forward.
And are you familiar with the unsettling drawings of illustrator Edward Gorey?
A new exhibit opening this week at the Wadsworth Atheneum in Hartford looks at the artists who influenced Gorey’s work.
We talk about Gorey’s life, his distinctive drawings, and the art and artists who inspired him with the curator of the new exhibit at the Wadsworth and the curator of the Edward Gorey House in Cape Cod.
