Rutland Is The Solar Capital Of New England, GMP Says

A solar array atop the College of St. Joseph in Rutland is of 51 solar installations that has made the city the solar generation capital of New England.

Green Mountain Power officials say its now official: Rutland is the solar generation capital of New England.The state’s largest utility reports that 51 homes, businesses and other installations in Rutland are generating nearly 7.8 megawatts of solar power.

That’s more per capita than in any other New England city. Green Mountain Power says there are currently solar installations on the Paramount Theatre, Rutland Regional Medical Center, the Vermont Farmer’s Food Center and at the College of St. Joseph, among other locations.
