Baitul Aman mosque in South Meriden, Connecticut.

Federal authorities have charged a Meriden man with firing several shots into a local mosque in November.

The U.S. Attorney's office said Ted Hakey, Jr. was arrested Thursday night at his home on Main Street, which is next door to the BaitulAman Mosque.

Tom Carson, a spokesman for the U.S. attorney's office said details, including the specific charges, would be released after Hakey's court appearance Friday morning. It was not immediately known who would represent Hakey in court.

Several bullet holes were found inside the mosque on November 15.  Authorities were investigating whether it was linked to anti-Islamic backlash following the terrorist attack in Paris two days earlier.

Governor Dannel Malloy and U.S. Rep. Elizabeth Esty were among those who attended special open services at the mosque shortly after the incident.
