Las Vegas sends a message to tourists and locals: Hey, I'm walkin' here

A MARTÍNEZ, HOST:

Good morning. I'm A Martínez. Las Vegas is sending a message to tourists and locals. Hey, I'm walking here. County commissioners made it a misdemeanor for anyone to stop or stand still in so-called pedestrian flow zones. So if you get in the way of anyone trying to walk on a pedestrian bridge on the Strip, you could face a $1,000 fine or six months in jail. Now, the new rule comes just in time for Vegas to host a Super Bowl, so maybe this will keep any blocking inside the stadium. It's MORNING EDITION. Transcript provided by NPR, Copyright NPR.
