We had a big menu of things we could talk about on The Nose this week, but there was no possibility we weren't going to tackle "Accidental Racist,' the collaboration between country star Brad Paisely and rap star LL Cool J, mainly because of all the heat and light this song as generated among journalists and critics.
It's a song about the delicate sensibilities of whites and blacks, and it follows closely in the footsteps of "Ebony and Ivory." I actually think it's a considerable improvement on the McCartney-Wonder collaboration, but you wll be hearing from people who disagree with him.
To quote another pop song about social consciousness, there's something happening here. Two Oscar nominated films -- Lincoln and Django Unchained -- probed the history of race relations in the South and today, "42," the Jackie Robinson biopic, opens.
