Shakespeare With Puppets, 81 Hours in an Elevator, and Setting Chekhov to Music

Last night I went I went to the movies. And it was a nice movie. "What Maisey Knew." But I was kind of "meh." I've seen this before. Think about it. When was the last time a new movie really rocked your world? I've seen some great documentaries, and some interesting foreign films, but I feel like that medium is kind of temporarily static.

Live performances, meanwhile, have been knocking me out on a regular basis, and the latest one to do so was "Midsummer Night's Dream" right here at the International Festival of Arts and Ideas in New Haven.

We're live from The Study on Chapel Street today, and we're using this opportunity to talk about the ways live performance seems to be exploding its own categories and our expectations right now. I think we're living in a moment when the performing arts are putting every option on the table.
