The Music of Palestinian Singer Wissam Murad; Quiet Life Returns to WNPR's Studio 3

With ongoing tensions between Palestinians and Israelis, life for musicians there can be challenging. Israeli political and military control over most of the West Bank can mean a separation between Palestinian artists and their audience. In Jerusalem, that sense of isolation can be even more acute.

This hour, we begin with an interview from East Jerusalem with Palestinian musician Wissam Murad.

And later, Sean Spellman, Ryan Spellman, and Thor Robert Jensen have been touring together as Quiet Life, a folksy rock band with New London roots. Earlier this week, they joined us in WNPR's Studio 3 to play some songs and preview their upcoming concert in New Haven.

Concert Info:

Quiet Life will be performing with Caroline Rose on Friday, August 14 at Cafe Nine in New Haven. Doors open at 9:00 pm. Click here for more information.

GUESTS:

  • Wissam Murad - Palestinian musician
  • Sean Spellman - Vocalist and guitarist for Quiet Life
  • Ryan Spellman - Drummer and vocalist for Quiet Life
  • Thor Robert Jensen - Guitarist and vocalist for Quiet Life
