WNPR's Voicemail Project: Tell Us a Story

WNPR has a radio project and we want to get you involved. The idea is simple: we provide a theme; you call our hotline with your story.

The theme: Tell us one thing you remember from last week and why it was memorable to you. It doesn't have to be a long story - between 5-20 words is plenty, unless you want to add a little more. The point is that we can all tell a story and it doesn't have to be a chore.

On Wednesday, September 9,  Matt Dicks joins the Colin McEnroe Show live at 1:00 pm.  Matt is the author of Memoirs of an Imaginary Friend and most recently, The Perfect Comeback of Caroline JacobsHe's also a storyteller who is a 18-time Moth StorySLAM champion and co-founder of Hartford's own Speak Up storytelling project.

Matt learned to be a good storyteller by recording every night before he went to bed the one thing he remembered from that day that was different from the day before. It doesn't have to be a big thing, just a small moment that stayed with you a little longer than the rest.

So, call up our voicemail number and tell us your story: (860) 580-9677.

No one will pick-up, so you introverts don't need to worry about talking with anyone else. It's just you and the phone. If you mess up, just start over, or call the line and start over again. We'll take out the mistake. Please try and limit your story to 3 minutes.

Betsy started as an intern at WNPR in 2011 after earning a Master's Degree in American and Museum Studies from Trinity College. She served as the Senior Producer for 'The Colin McEnroe Show' for several years before stepping down in 2021 and returning to her previous career as a registered nurse. She still produces shows with Colin and the team when her schedule allows.
