Google Glass in the Doctor's Office?

You've probably heard of Google Glass - the computer you wear like eyeglasses. The computer display is right in front of your eyes, and is navigated by voice commands.

Now Hartford Hospital has been given a pair of the futuristic glasses by Google to explore the possibilities of using Google Glass in life saving situations by medical personnel.

The application for some of the first pairs of glasses asked respondents to finish the sentence, "If I had Glass..." Hartford Hospital responded with, "I would save lives," according to Dr. Thomas Nowicki who is an emergency room physician, and director of Hartford Hospital's Center for Education, Simulation and Innovation.

Uses for Google Glass include passing along critical information quickly, such as lab results. It could also be used during CPR to analyze rate and depth of compressions to provide instant feedback and provide the most effective care.

Despite a slight learning curve, Dr. Nowicki says the doctors who have worked with Google Glass adjust quickly.
