Rosalind Wiseman's book, Queen Bees and Wannabes, became a bestseller and was inspiration for the popular movie "Mean Girls." While the movie was hilarious and painful to watch, the book took a more serious look at new ways to understand girls’ social dynamics.
Now Wiseman is back, and taking a similarly close look at the life of boys. Her new book is called Masterminds and Wingmen: Helping our Boys Cope with School Yard Power, Locker Room Tests, Girlfriends, and the New Realities of Guy World.
This hour, we talk to Wiseman about adolescent development, parenting, bullying and more. And we talk to a Connecticut College professor about the myths of student disengagement. Also, from boys to men, The Good Men Project is looking to change perceptions of masculinity.
