They say it's important to eat breakfast every day. But what if you eat two breakfasts?

According to a new study, students who eat two breakfasts -- one at home and one at school -- are less likely to experience unhealthy weight gain than students who skip the meal altogether

This hour, we take a closer look at that finding with some local food and nutrition specialists. We also hear from a state that’s leading the nation in school breakfast participation.

And later: Food labor expert Saru Jayaraman tells us about her fight against American tipping culture and the sub-minimum wage.

GUESTS:

  • Dr. Marlene Schwartz - Director of the Rudd Center for Obesity and Food Policy at UConn
  • Lonnie Burt - Registered dietitian; School Nutrition Program Director for Hartford Public Schools; President of the School Nutrition Association of Connecticut
  • Rick Goff - Executive Director of the Office of Child Nutrition at the West Virginia Department of Education
  • Saru Jayaraman - Director of the Food Labor Research Department at UC Berkeley; Co-Founder and Co-Director of the Restaurant Opportunities Centers (ROC) United; author of Forked: A New Standard For American Dining
