Beluga Whales Arrive At Mystic Aquarium From Canada

Mystic Aquarium received five new beluga whales over the weekend. The Day of New London reports the 5 and 6-year-old whales were flown down from Canada on a private cargo plane and received a police escort.  They'll be part of a research effort at the aquarium to help conserve belugas in the wild. They join the Mystic facility's three resident whales in their outdoor habitat. The move was opposed by some animal rights groups before the Canadian government approved the export last week.
