Governor Dannel Malloy is seeking a new commissioner for the Office of Early Childhood. Myra Jones-Taylor has announced her resignation, effective immediately.
Jones-Taylor did not reveal exactly why she's moving on, saying only in a statement that she wants to pursue other professional opportunities.
She's headed up the office for the last three years, and was its first commissioner, as the department became a cabinet level agency for the first time. She was first introduced to the public by Malloy on WNPR's Where We Live.
"Never in my wildest dreams did I imagine I would have the good fortune of working alongside such dedicated and passionate people," said the former commissioner. "Together we have accomplished great things, things many people thought would never happen in Connecticut."
The current deputy commissioner Linda Goodman will head up the department in the interim until a new head can be named.
