One of the many nice things about working here at WNPR is that our chief engineer Gene Amatruda actually seems to like setting up our studio for concerts. And every time Gene does it, the studio sounds a little better. I caught some of String Theorie on Where We Live last week, and I was knocked out by the sound.
So we decided to keep making things tougher for Gene. This week, he's trying to make our studio work for a fusion of blue-eyed soul and alt-blue grass. Fans of our show now know the amazing voice of Grayson Hugh, but until now we haven't figured out how to turn him loose on keyboard in studio. He's got a gig in April at the Kate with Caroline Doctorow. Yes, she's E.L.'s daughter, but in her own right she's become a star of the alt-country / alt bluegrass world.
Grayson can play and sing in just about any genre, so we're going to look for ways to merge the two artists and their back-up people today. There's even more chaos than usual here today, but we hope that for you it's just a nice hour of music and talk.
