A Conversation With Peter Tork

John Lennon said they were the greatest comedy team since the Marx Brothers.

Gene Roddenberry based the look of the character Chekov on them.

The Jimi Hendrix Experience got its first U.S. concert work as their opening act.

Their TV show generated the money that launched the movie career of Jack Nicholson.

Frank Zappa and Tim Buckley appeared on their show, and the next time you're in a trivia contest, ask somebody what movie movie featured Zappa, Sonny Liston, Annette Funnicello, Teri Garr, linebacker Ray Nitschke and legendary stripper Carol Doda. The answer is "Head," the Monkees film.

In our studio today is Peter Tork who probably runs neck and neck with Michael Nesmith for the distinction of Most Ambivalent Monkee. He has a lot of stories to tell about before, during and after the Monkees years.
