Last week, we went up to do our annual live show from Great Barrington, Massachusetts at the Berkshire International Film Festival. Our usual host, The Triplex, had technical problems, so we pulled the plug with a few minutes left to go, which is why you heard a re-run about movie trailers. Meanwhile, we recorded this show so you could hear it today.
Then we thought, why confine ourselves to one film festival? Why not talk about the Cannes Film Festival? It's such a hyper event that when you Google "Trends at Cannes", you get many more fashion stories than film articles. And this year, there was an additional controversy when actresses like Emily Blunt rebelled against a rule requiring high heels for women on the red carpet. We'll talk to critic Peter Hammond about the actual movies at Cannes.
