This will be our 34th annual Highland Festival & Games. The festival is held on the beautiful grounds of the Waldo Home Estate, Waldo Rd. Scotland, Ct. Our gates will open to the public at 0900 for everyone to roam the grounds and shop at the many vendors. The official opening ceremonies will take place at 12 noon with mass bands, clans entering the parade field. Ox Gara will be the MC for the festival, Ox has been a Drum Major for several great pipe bands. Charlie Zahm will perform the National Anthems of our country and that of our neighbors, Scotland. Dan Taggart of the Clan Ross Pipe Band will perform " Flowers of the Forest" as we remember our loved ones who we have lost this past year. We will host Highland Dance competitions, individual piping / drumming competitions, Harp demonstrations and competitions, for the first time at our festival we will also host a Scottish Fiddle demonstration. We will host many vendors selling their Scottish wears and foods, a Clan Village where you can look up your family's clan, Highland Cattle, Soay Sheep and Clydesdale Horses on exhibit and of course the Famous Highland games! Closing ceremonies are at 5P.M. with mass bands performing at this time as well. Throughout the day we will have numerous bagpipe bands performing on the grounds. We also will have a large entertainment tent where the Scottish band North Sea Gas will perform. In our main entertainment tent, we are also honored to once again enjoy the beautiful songs sung by Charlie Zahm & Tadd Marks. This year we have invited back a local band " Good Bye Irene" to perform in an additional entertainment tent on grounds. NO pets are allowed on grounds. WE do offer free shuttle bus services as well.
