More Connecticut public school students took the SAT college entrance exams this year than last year. It was a more diverse group than ever, according to the State Department of Education.
Overall, average scores were similar to last year, with slight improvements in reading and writing.
The SAT is meant to serve as an indicator for the likelihood of college success. The College Board, which developed the SAT, says students who reach a total score of 1550 have a 65 percent chance of making it through their first year of college with at least a B- average.
