The state of Connecticut is beginning to offer more ways for customers to receive real-time information about buses.
Riders of CTfastrak, the bus-only corridor between Hartford and New Britain, can obtain information about bus arrival and departure predictions, service disruptions and vehicle locations on Google Maps.
The state Department of Transportation said this information will be available on other greater Hartford area buses as part of a statewide roll-out of real-time bus information technology over the next year.
The agency estimates all Hartford and New Haven buses will be equipped with real-time bus information technology by the end of the winter.
Google Maps is a transit planning tool that can be accessed from computers and smart phones.
DOT has made schedule and real-time information for CTfastrak available on the CTtransit website since March.
