DPH Investigating Possible Case of Legionnaires Disease in New Haven

The Connecticut Department of Health is investigating a possible case of Legionnaires disease after the recent death of a man at Yale New Haven Hospital. Hearst Connecticut reports the case is yet to be confirmed. With symptoms similar to the flu, the disease is caused by a bacteria that can grow in water systems. Because of COVID related office closures around the country, it is possible the bacteria could have had a chance to grow in unused water pipes.
